Startup Of The Week: Vertoro

Vertoro, a Dutch biotech company, has developed a green platform product called Goldilocks made from forestry or agricultural residue that replaces fossil-based feedstocks for fuel, chemical and material applications. It is already selling into markets as diverse as antioxidants and marine fuel. Vertoro counts Maersk Growth, the corporate venturing arm of shipping giant Maersk, among its investors, and is part of a consortium, with Shell Netherlands, that was recently awarded a grant to demonstrate the viability of using Goldilocks to produce sustainable aviation fuel.
