Ikea, the world’s biggest furniture brand with more than 800 million customers, is hoping to convince homeowners around the globe to sign up for its new electricity service. The service aims to allow consumers to buy affordable renewable energy, track usage through an app, and sell back the surplus.

The service kicked off in Sweden on Sept. 1 via a partnership with Svea Solar, a Swedish startup that already works with Ikea to sell solar panels to homeowners. Plans are for Ingka Group, the company that owns most Ikea stores, to form similar partnerships in other markets, with a goal of rolling out clean energy services to 30 countries by 2025. It’s another example of how corporates can team with startups to help solve the U.N.’s Sustainable Development.
