Interview Of The Week: Steve Cook, BP

BP Steve Cook

Who: Steve Cook is BP’s interim Senior Vice President Launchpad & Ventures with a remit that includes the company’s corporate venture capital portfolio, long term technology strategy, emerging and disruptive technology, technology intelligence and technology commercialization and business building through to BP’s new scale up vehicle Launchpad, which aims to help create the energy system of the future.

Topic: How BP is working with startups and intrapreneurs to scale new technologies.

Quote: “it is difficult to achieve big goals when you are surrounded by people in an incumbent company that want to change but don’t quite know how. It is only possible with boldness and transformational thinking and immersing yourself and others in the outside world and spending a lot of time with startups, venture capitalists, private equity firms and business builders to find out what these different organizations have tried before and then figure out what will work for you..”
