M-Spin, a spin-out from Imperial College London, has developed an ultra-thin porous metallic mat, a material it believes could boost energy efficiency and reconfigure the economics of clean energy. The UK startup’s technology feeds into three structurally distinct and growing markets: green hydrogen (electrolyzers and fuel cells), energy storage (lithium-ion and next-generation batteries) and thermal management (portable electronics and AI/data center cooling). Customers include electrolyzer and battery makers as well as some of the world’s largest mobile phone companies.
