Startup Of The Week: Hiverge

Businesses across industries rely on algorithms for a huge number of critical operations.  The better the algorithm, the more efficient and competitive the business. But designing tailored algorithms to meet specific use cases is expensive and requires expertise that is rarely available, so many companies end up relying on one-size-fits-all solutions that are less than optimal. What’s needed is a way to discover breakthrough algorithms—highly tailored to each specific challenge—while democratizing access.

That’s where Hiverge comes in. The Cambridge, England-based startup, which was founded by former Google DeepMind scientists, has built what it describes as an algorithm factory that analyzes which parts of code represent bottlenecks, generates improved algorithms that are designed to solve specific company issues, and provides recommendations to engineers.

The company plans to make its technology accessible through Cloud marketplaces like AWS and Google Cloud. Customers will be able to directly use the system on their own code.

Hiverge’s technology is at  the forefront of a new category of algorithmic discovery that originated within Google DeepMind.
